The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is the premiere honorary established by the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH). NRHH was established to advocate for the interests and welfare of residence hall students, while also providing opportunities for their personal growth and development. The UNC Charlotte NRHH chapter strives to provide recognition for individuals who have contributed to the advancement of housing at UNC Charlotte. 

UNC Charlotte’s National Residence Hall Honorary Chapter believes in fostering a strong sense of community where everyone feels recognized, valued and empowered. Our work makes an impact not only on our campus but also in the wider community. We strive to leave a legacy so meaningful that everyone knows who we are, feels the love we share, and is inspired to get involved.

NRHH is a Leadership based honorary comprised of exemplary residential students who value Service and Recognition.

The NRHH Chapter here at UNC Charlotte focuses on ways for residential students to go out and serve their community both on and off-campus. We also strive to recognize residential students through the “Of The Month” (OTM) program. Each month, residents across campus can submit OTM nominations for deserving individuals, groups, or programs on campus in numerous categories.

The symbol for NRHH is a diamond surrounding the letters of the organization, and the three interconnected links, the chain of leadership.

• The diamond, the world’s most precious gem, signifies the value and beauty one finds in their residence hall experience.
• The first chain of the link represents caring. Leaders are people who are. They are concerned about themselves and others and are committed to making things better.
• The second link signifies dedication. Part of the leader’s commitment is the dedication to ideals and causes, which they display to others. Dedication is an important part of the involvement required to be a truly effective leader.
• The third link represents participation. True leaders participate fully in their academic pursuits, friendships, activities and lives. Leaders do not sit on the sidelines but are complete team players.

Together, the unbroken chain symbolizes the never-ending leadership of NACURH and membership to NRHH.

Blue symbolizes loyalty: loyalty to purpose.

White signifies a blank page: a page on which a student writes the successes and experiences that fill their days in the residence halls.

The chapter here at UNC Charlotte is young but growing! The first class was inducted during the Spring semester of 2009. Since then, the chapter has grown immensely and has started to establish its presence within the housing community.

The Executive Board has worked extremely hard to help establish normalcy for general body members from bi-weekly meetings to service and leadership opportunities both in and out of the organization. Our General Body Members are all a part of a specific committee focusing on Membership, Service and Recognition. 

As a chapter, we have put forth events such as a canned food drive, a root beer float “get to know you” social for South Village and participation in other service opportunities such as Relay for Life. We have also been pushing “Of The Month” awards in every hall. Lastly, we have held monthly tabling opportunities for members to get out and speak to other students about NRHH.
